Fathers day French toast is a very easy and always appreciated breakfast that never fails. This is one of my favorites, topped with bacon and sometimes a bit of cheese that is then melted under the grill and then of course smothered in syrup. Make it for the Dads this weekend, they will love it.
What you need
2 Eggs
1/4 cup cream
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
2 slices thick bread (use a croissant for if you like)
4 slices cooked bacon
Syrup
1 tablespoon butter
The process
Heat a pan to medium, cook the bacon and set aside. Clean the pan and melt the butter.
Beat the eggs, cream and vanilla together in a bowl.
Soak the bread in the mixture and then cook over a medium heat until golden, turn and cook through.
Pile the bacon on top of the bread, (if you are topping with cheese, place the cheese on top of the bacon and melt under the grill) and serve to Dad with some syrup on the side.
You can go to town with this one, instead of bacon or cheese, use fresh sliced fruit and caster sugar, even add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the mixture if you are going the sweet route.
It’s easy and never fails to please.
So DAY 4 was the Classic Lasagne. DAY 5, chilled out Sunday Morning, you can bet I logged on to check out the site for a scrumptious breakfast idea….and in true keeping to the never-failing recipes, I found the perfect solution! Oh how we enjoyed french toast. I think this one could very well be on the list for Sunday morning traditions! How am I ever going to thank you enough?!
