beef ribs

The weather looks good over the whole country this weekend so get out the braai and use this beef rib marinade for an awesome change. There’s a secret to getting beef ribs soft and tender.

What you need

2 kg Beef ribs
1 onion quartered
1 lemon quartered

1 cup of brown sugar
2 teaspoons English mustard
1 teaspoon pepper
100ml soy sauce
100ml Worcestershire sauce
100ml tomato sauce
50ml vinegar
50ml tomato paste
2 teaspoons crushed garlic

The process

Place the ribs in a large put of water, add the onion pieces and lemon quarters, bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 90 minutes.

Drain off the water and let them cool in the pot.

Combine all of the marinade ingredients together, pour over the ribs and make sure they are all well coated then leave them for an hour.

Braai on a medium heat to caramalise the sauce and heat through.

Sticky delicious and tender.
